About the Pooled Funds Visualisation

This site pulls together data from several pooled funds, with the aim of providing more transparency on the share of funding which flows through to local and national actors. This is part of a collective Grand Bargain commitment to provide 25% of funding to local and national actors directly or through one intermediary.

The data has been complied based on data published by different organisations to IATI, the International Aid Transparency Initiative. While there are challenges with the quality of some of this data, there is a large volume of data now available.

Summary of data

We included data from the following pooled funds:

OCHA CBPF (Direct)15,283
OCHA CBPF (Indirect, 1st recipients)951
OCHA CERF (Direct)8,205

Methodology for inclusion

Given the different structure of the various pooled funds, and in some cases the different approach used by different IATI Publishers, we used a slightly different approach for each of the pooled funds in order to present the data in a consistent and coherent way.

OCHA Country Based Pooled Funds

Direct Funding

We included any activity published by the OCHA Country Based Pooled Funds on the IATI Registry (XM-OCHA-CBPF).

Indirect Funding

We included any activity which receives incoming funds from XM-OCHA-CBPF (excluding anything published by OCHA CBPF, for example to exclude funding passed between OCHA CBPF activities).

OCHA Central Emergency Response Fund

Direct Funding

We included any activity published by the OCHA Country Based Pooled Funds publisher on the IATI Registry.

Indirect Funding

We included any activity which receives incoming funds from XM-OCHA-CERF (excluding anything published by OCHA CERF, for example to exclude funding passed between OCHA CBPF activities).

Sahel Regional Fund

We included any activity which received funding from the Danish Refugee Council’s (DRC) Activity DK-CVR-20699310-FC26436. We also manually included one additional activity (GB-SC-SC030289-91612), which had not correctly stated that it received funding from the aforementioned DRC activity.

START Fund

We included any activity which stated that the funder was any of the following:

  • START Fund
  • Start Fund (Save the Children)
  • START Network
  • Start_Network
  • START-Network
  • Save the Children (START Fund)
  • Save the Children UK (Start Fund)
